Neustart Kultur

The regulations surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic in spring 2020 had a direct impact on the cultural and media sector. With the Neustart Kultur programme, the German government supported these areas with additional funding. Funding was provided for pandemic-related investments and projects in various cultural sectors.

Initiative Musik played a key role in implementing the sub-programmes for the music sector. With our sub-programmes, we supported the live music industry in particular, which was especially affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The funding went towards the planning and realisation of music events and festivals.

The application and project periods for the sub-programmes have now ended. A total of 2,810 projects from music clubs, event organisers and festivals of various formats were supported with a total volume of 221 million euros. Thanks to Neustart Kultur, we were also able to adapt and increase our funding for artists.
